Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation - Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nch’ḵaỷ’s mandate is to develop, manage, and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation.

The Marketing and Branding Manager is a Permanent Full-Time position based at Nch’ḵaỷ’s Head Office. Our Head Office is in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. Scope of the Position

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement and collaborating closely with the Real Estate & Development Department, the Marketing & Branding Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive marketing, branding, and communication strategies, with a focus on Nch’ḵaỷ’ s real estate projects and fostering strong engagement with the Squamish Nation Member community and the public.


This position requires a seasoned industry professional with a strong background in real estate marketing and branding who is adept at brand development and storytelling, as well as creating engaging content for various channels.


A. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority, and Accountabilities

a. Real Estate Project Marketing

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns for real estate projects, ensuring alignment with overall marketing and communications objectives.
  • Create engaging content for various channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases.


b. Brand Management

  • Work with external consultants and community knowledge-holders to lead the development and implementation of strong brand identity and messaging for each real estate development project, ensuring Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) cultural identity and connections to place are thoughtfully integrated into the brands.
  • Ensure consistent application of visual brand and messaging for Nch’ḵaỷ and its real estate projects across all communication channels.
  • Identify and/or create opportunities to elevate the Nch’ḵaỷ brand as an emerging leader in the real estate industry and market.
  • Oversee simple in-house graphic design projects for social media, newsletters, and other communication channels.
  • Manage contracts with external consultants on larger design projects, ensuring alignment with cultural considerations and brand guidelines.


c. External & Media Relations

  • Write and edit key messages, briefing notes, speeches, and presentations that tell a strong, compelling story of Nch’ḵaỷ as a driver of economic reconciliation.
  • Play a key role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with journalists and influencers in the real estate industry; contribute to proactively pitching stories and securing media coverage in support of Nch'ḵay̓’s real estate projects.
  • Lead the creation of high-quality, engaging content for various communication channels, ensuring consistency and alignment with Nch'ḵay̓’s key messages and values.


d. Community Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain trusting, strategic relationships with the Squamish Nation, government, staff, economic development corporations, businesses, and community members.
  • Demonstrate excellent public speaking skills and comfort working with groups, both small and large.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to establish successful working relationships internally and externally.


e. Internal Communication

  • Provide regular updates to ensure that real estate project-related information is communicated effectively across Nch'ḵay̓’s divisions as required.
  • Contribute written content to quarterly community newsletter updates.


f. Engagement

  • Engage with diverse partners and audiences, including Squamish Nation Members, Squamish Nation Council, Nch’ḵaý’s Board, employees, and the public, to convey Nch'ḵay̓’s message and garner support for organizational initiatives.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships to ensure effective communication and collaboration in support of organizational objectives.


g. Analytics and Reporting

  • Monitor and analyze communication performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports and recommend improvements based on data analysis.


B. Other


  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Train new staff or Squamish Nation members.

D. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, or Marketing; Completion of a two-year diploma or associate degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related discipline may be considered.
  • Five to seven years of experience in marketing, communications, and/or public relations, with a focus on real estate marketing and branding.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, grammatical, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in graphic design, and various communication tools and platforms.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage and track multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proven track record of coordinating events for diverse audiences and interest groups.
  • Experience utilizing social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) at an organizational level to promote events, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience working with design programs such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign to create basic publications and graphics in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to organize and track overlapping tasks and assignments, with frequent priority changes to meet deadlines.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to build productive and respectful working relationships with colleagues and senior management.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment.Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Previous experience shooting and editing video content for social media will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with First Nations is an asset; a strong desire to learn about and uphold Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values and teachings in a respectful manner is essential for this role.


E. Special Requirements


  • Occasional requirement to work in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Valid BC Class 5 license is preferred.
